A few weeks ago we photographed Ben. His session was part of our Veterans Project. Ben comes from a family of soldiers including his grandfather who served in World War I and his father in World War II. When Ben was in high school the Vietnam War was underway and he wanted to enlist. His father wasn’t too keen on that idea but at 17 he enlisted in the guard and when he turned 18 went into the regular Army, just after the war ended. Ben served in Germany in the 11th Armored Calvary. While he might have retired from the army and other careers since, he is still active in our community having served as a county commissioner for many years. He is always looking to see how he can make a difference. Don’t be surprised if you see his smiling face doing good things for people in the Barrow county community.
Today we want to celebrate, honor and thank Ben for his service to our country.
